Wild Purple Scones

Ingredients

  • 1 and 1/2 cups (7 ounces) whole white wheat flour
  • 1 and 1/2 cups (7 ounces) whole wheat pastry flour
  • 2 and 1/2 teaspoon  baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/3 cup raw sugar, plus extra for topping (organic turbinado)
  • Zest of 1 large lemon
  • 3/4 cup (6 ounces) unsalted butter, chilled and cut into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 1 and 1/4 cups frozen black raspberries
  • About 1 cup buttermilk, plus extra for glazing
